11/06/08…Thanks Cap't Ed, I truly enjoyed the 3 day sail and ASA 104 bareboat class
with you and The Commander on II Dolphins! You were both great sailing companions. I
learned a great deal and am more confident for sure. The weather and scenery along the
Cape Fear River and Bald Head Island was strikingly beautiful! And the Low Country
shrimp boil was delicious! Thank you! I'll be back to introduce my wife Jeanne to sailing
with II Dolphins and Cap't Ed! Cheers, Richard
09/15/08…Dear Captain Ed, We had an outstanding experience taking the ASA 101 and
103 courses from you. Your calm and thorough teaching, all done with gentle humor,
made it possible for us to both learn and actually feel comfortable with both the written
tests and sailing skills. Best of all, it was a great time and we are looking forward to sailing
with you again. Joyce and Jim
09/06/08…Hey Ed! Thanks so much for coming over last weekend! It made a huge
difference to us, and it was very gracious of you to do this in your free time!!! (You should
have let me pay you!). You would be amazed that the boys actually remembered some of
the things you said…. We quizzed them later, and they remembered the some of the
terms correctly! You are a good teacher. You definitely have a knack for describing
something complicated in a simple way… that sticks! THANKS again!! Susan
09/03/08… Hi Ed, It was a pleasure taking the classes from you ! Let me know when you
have an opening for a single on the 104 class? Also , if you or anyone else need a hand
with your boats should the storm come this way, please pass my name along Would be
glad to help, Mark
08/30/08… Ed, You were my instructor for ASA 101; along with my first-mate Robin.
We're now working on ASA 106; as well as 107. We sailed down the ICW on our boat
last November from Annapolis to Masonboro Inlet. We stayed overnight at the yacht
club. I stopped by to see if you were on your boat to say hello. It was nice to see your
boat again and think about how important that first lesson was for us. Our boat is now in
Florida, which we've used as a jumping-off point for two trips to the Abacos. We hope to
go further south after the hurricane season is over. Best Wishes, Tim
08/29/08… Hi Ed, Thanks so much for the great class and truly Awesome Sailing!
Tacking in the channel against the tidal current was an incredible experience that I won't
soon forget. The good news is that I didn't get sick. Clearly there is a tremendous
amount to learn and also going on all the time with sailing, which is why it is so fascinating
to me. I understand all to well that skill and judgment will come from experience, so I will
have to do more sailing! Thanks for the call about my stuff. I was beat after the second
day,and it It was raining when I left the motel, so I'll collect when I return for 104. Thanks
again, Richard
08/18/08… Ed, Here are some pics from my recent sailing trip in the Puget Sound. It was
pretty spectacular. I skippered a 34' Ericson while my brother and brother-in-law were
aboard a 43' Jeanneau and a 44' Beneteau. There was not a lot of wind, but when we did
hoist the sails, the Ericson was the fastest of the lot. Good thing, too; my father was on
board and he is a long time racer. The tides and currents were pretty remarkable. We
left port early in the morning on a falling tide and my brother who was the last boat ran
aground. He had to wait 3 1/2 hours to refloat. A perfectly good kedging opportunity in
my book! Jeep
08/05/08… Dear Ed, Thanks! We had a blast this last weekend. Saturday was one of
the most confidence building sails I had ever done. We ran out of time on Sunday. I had
a 4:00 appt. But Meyka took the helm for a good while sailing back. I was proud of her!
y new electrical panel arrived. Got my wire, too. Now to work! I have so many things I
want to do before we leave for New Bern. Oh well... I may try to pick your brain when
October gets closer for navigational planning for the trip to New Bern. It will be an
adventure. I hope you realize how grateful we are for you! Doug
08/04/08... Captain Ed, I'm back home and missing II Dolphins! I want you to know how
much I enjoyed your ASA Basic Keelboat class. The curriculum was comprehensive and
you made the class fun! I was especially impressed in how you were able to take
advantage of the best sailing opportunities and still cover all of the required course-work.
I'll be back soon for individual sailing instruction and then the ASA Coastal Cruising class.
Thanks so very much! Cheers, Richard
06/30/08... Ed, Thank your for the pix and for a very enjoyable class. You keep it
wonderfully relaxed and fun. If potential students want a reference or endorsement, send
them my e-mail and I will be glad to share my very positive experiences with all three
classes. I'll let you know how the NW trip goes. With the large tidal range in Puget
Sound, I expect many kedging possibilities. Jeep
06/13/08... Capt. Ed, Thanks for such a great sailing class. Kim and I enjoyed it very
much. The ocean and coastal sailing experience is exactly what we were looking for.
We would recommend these classes highly to someone interested in coastal or offshore
sailing. Again thank you so much for offering such an incredible class. We hope to see
you again in the future… and let me know if you move onto another boat… Two Dolphins
is a sweet ride. Jeff
06/02/08... Capt'n Ed, Tracy and I greatly enjoyed the ASA training and certification time
we spent with you. Thank you for making it a wonderful experience... You are a great
teacher and a good friend to spend the time with. Thank you! Michael
05/06/08... Capt'n Ed, Thank you so much for the Sunset Cruise, it was a wonderful
experience. It was the best day of my life and I'm glad you helped me share it with my
future bride. Thanks Todd
03/17/08... Good Morning Capt Ed! I wanted to shoot you off a pic of our boat so you can
be on the lookout for us on weekends. Make one of your classes run circles around us!
When we go out we usually anchor the night in Banks Chanel on Saturday night so we
can get out on Sunday morning. So if you see us....put her into "ramming speed"! I really
and truly had a wonderful experience in your 101 & 103 class. I must admit that I have
never been a sailing enthusiast (I'm sure it shows) but wanted to be a little less ignorant
about my husband's passion. On the first day I awoke dreading the thought of having to
spend 4 days learning to sail. Not only did I totally enjoy those 4 days, but I think I may
even start to look forward to sailing! And I learned so much. You would think that being
on boats as much as I have, I would have learned alot already. Nope. Didn't listen to
them, and they were not teachers. So, thanks for everything. Linda
04/17/09... Hi Ed, We had a great trip to the BVI! We just completed our camera
downloads last night and I'll send you some pics when I get home. Our II Dolphins
practice certainly provided us with needed information, skills and confidence. The
kids did very well too. The ASA stickers arrived before we left and we just
received another packet of info and magazines yesterday. Take care, Steve
04/28/09... I met Paul & Carol aboard their Valiant 42 Cutter "Odysseus" ( I hope I spelled
it correctly) anchored in Banks Channel. We had a great afternoon aboard II Dolphins
sailing up the coast for several hours practicing some fun sailing techniques. Have fun at
Cape Lookout. Enjoy each other and your beautiful boat! Thanks for your generosity.
07/15/09... Hey I had a great time and the sailing was awesome! You're an excellent
skipper and I too enjoyed our talks etc. I value our friendship and its an honor an
pleasure. Ill have to return sooner than later. Thanks again for your flexibility, hospitality
and friendship. Cheers, Richard
0726/09...Ed once again thanks for your time and patience, much was learnt and I
thoroughly enjoyed my time on II Dolphins and my time with you. I am sure you have
heard this before but you did a great job articulating everything and putting it into terms
so that I could form the correlation between power and sail. Also as promised I have
attached a copy of the schedule”A” of the Admiral 38 that I am purchasing and a link to
some photos. Could you please email me the photos you took of us while sailing today
Once again thanks a ton for everything, and I look forward to remaining in contact.
Kindest regards and best wishes...Gavin
10/08/09...Captian Ed, Again, thank you so much for a wonderful weekend of sailing.
Nell and I will be back to learn more. Attached are some photos from the weekend. Also,
remember how Laura and I saw a big blue fin right after the dolphins? I'm 100% sure it
was an atlantic sailfish! Very cool. The fin looked exactly like the mounted one I've
attached. Please forward on the photos to Doug and Laura if possible, or give me their
email address so I can do so directly. Thanks again! -Soren & Nell
